Pat Baker

When I walked the grounds of Parkway Village in December of 1997, I immediately vowed to make this my “forever home.” I love it here and want to restore it to the warm community atmosphere we once shared.

One of the reasons I love Parkway Village is because of the diversity of you, my neighbors. I have learned so much from each of you and hope to maintain the dialogue we have shared. In addition, I possess the qualities needed to bring back the community atmosphere I always loved about our Village. I was #10 of 13 siblings. Growing up in such a large family, one could get “lost in the crowd.” I observed my parents and all my siblings and learned great social skills, self-reliance, compassion, sharing, empathy, listening skills and discipline -- the skills we need to bring back the feelings of comradeship and respect to our Village.

I worked hard and was the only college graduate among my siblings. I earned a BA (Social Science) degree from CCNY, and a MSUP (Master of Science in Urban Planning) degree from Columbia University’s School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation. My experience includes successfully completing proposal and grants writing projects, managing multimillion-dollar contracts, supervising staff and successfully negotiating with elected officials, company presidents, union contractors, and various vendors. As one of the Founders of the Citywide Access-A-Ride Service I saw that project through from planning at the Mayor’s Office to full implementation at NYC Department of Transportation and MTA NYC Transit.

As a Board Member I am Co-Chair of the House Committee, the Grounds Committee, and the Welcoming Committee. We have successfully held a Plant Exchange in 2022 and plan to hold another one in April of this year. Tree planting has been successfully conducted without injury to any of the beautiful trees already flourishing --on The Green and in the Circle.

Each Sub-Committee has successfully tackled projects that have helped restore a sense of community in our Village. Thank you for your support. Let’s keep this feeling alive by joining a committee and lending your support

I am a member of the Climate Change Slate and have served on the Parkway Village Board of Directors since October 2021. Since that time significant progress has been made in restoring freedom from fear and intimidation, ethical administration, and fiscal responsibility. If reelected, we remain committed to building upon this solid foundation of achievement to make our Village an even better place to invest and live in.
